Password appears on Windows when none is assigned due to another app's password.

A password has been assigned to another application (such as Microsoft Network) running in Windows.

1) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
2) Select 'Settings' and select 'Control Panel'. (The 'Control Panel' window appears.)

3) Double-click the 'Passwords' icon. (The 'Passwords Properties' dialog box appears.)

4) Click the 'Change Passwords' tab. (The 'Change Passwords' tabbed page appears.)

6) Select the first listed application's check box.

8) Type the current password in the 'Old password' box in the 'Change Windows Password' dialog box.
'Change Windows Password' dialog box
9) Leave the 'New password' and 'Confirm new password' boxes blank.
10) Click 'OK'.
11) If any other applications are listed, repeat steps 6) through 10) to disable their passwords.
12) Click 'Close'.
NOTE: If 'User Profile Settings' is enabled in the 'Password Properties' dialog box, Windows 95 prompts for a password even if the password is blank. This is necessary to identify the user to the system. Also, if the primary log-on is set to 'Microsoft Client' or 'NetWare Client' in the 'Network' properties dialog box, a networking password is required at startup even if the password is blank. In that case, the Windows password is transparent if the user names and passwords match.
